He has to win this one. He’s a great lyrics writer. When will the results be announced?

  2. Chris says:

Yeah, the best part about My Chem for me is the lyrics hands down. They’re so poetic and metaphoric. On the list I would say that Gerard, Kurt Cobain and David Bowie were probably the best. I think the results have already been announced in yesterdays NME, so techinally voting is kinda pointless now!. When I next go to the store I’ll take a look at NME and post the results if they have been published. Gerard seems to be #1 at the moment.

He deserves to win, the only reason I actually got into them was because someone had posted a link to their lyrics page on some site, and I clicked on it out of curiousity and thought all of their lyrics were amazing, so I looked them up online and fell in love with their music instantly. Too bad NME isn’t sold here in the US…

  4. Claire says:

My internets on the fritz but Bob Dylan should definitely be on that list, and probably a bunch of literary bands like the decemberists or bright eyes or something. And MCR of course.

  5. Chris says:

I went to the store this morning and checked NME magazine. It did include the “Greatest Lyricists Ever” feature, but I couldn’t find Gerard. They didn’t appear to be in any set order. Bob Dylan had a double page spread, but I looked a few times over and couldn’t find Gee.

That’s too bad. But just because he didn’t win, doesn’t mean he’s not good at writing. It’s hard to say who is the best lyrics writer because every person talks about different things. If there was only one “best songwriter” there would have probably been only one band in the whole world.
