Dixie Lawsuit
In June 2009 Bob filed a lawsuit against dog trainer Daniel Schaffer when his beloved dog Dixie passed away whilst in the trainers care.
Bob spent $7,500 in April 2009 to send his dog Dixie to Daniel Schaffer’s kennel for intense training to help the emotionally fragile, formerly abused rescue dog adjust to a new dog in the household. In the initial phone call Schaffer told Bob that Dixie was doing well and was “having a blast and partying all day”. About a week later Schaffer reported that Dixie had died during a collision when a drunk driver struck the vehicle in which Schaffer was carrying Dixie and other dogs.
Later that evening Schaffer called Bob again and told him that he would not be able to say goodbye to his pet Dixie as she had already being ‘cremated due to her condition’. Two days later Schaffer deliverd an urn containing Dixie’s remains.
Schaffer failed to produce a police report and then changed his story and said that Dixie had died in her sleep, then changed it again to say that Dixie died under other circumstances.
“I don’t even know what happened to my best friend and miss her more than anything in the world. The devastation I feel is beyond words.”
