Gerard Way Death Rumour Spread Via Twitter

Gerard Way Death Rumour

Gerard Way Death Rumour

A fake Gerard Way death rumour was recently spread via Twitter. It is claimed that a group of tweeters fabricated a false retweet about the singer using the @MCRofficial account. The issue has highlighted a twitter flaw in which a user may insert the letters “RT” followed by an account username making it seems as if the tweet came from an official source. I was unable to dig up the exact tweet causing the controversy, if any of you have a link to the tweet please add it in the comments. Check out Latelate.com and Gather.com for more info on that. This is unfortunately not the first Gerard Way death rumour. Some of you will remember the fake death statement posted in 2006 claiming that Gerard was “killed in a car crash near his home in New Jersey”. Check out the “Rumors” section on our Gerard Way page for more info on the 2006 rumor.

Frank Iero Designs Custom Guitar For Charity

Frank With Phant-o-matic Guitar

Frank With Phant-o-matic Guitar

Frank Iero has designed a six-string guitar for Epiphone called the “Phant-o-matic”. It was comprised using parts of the Wiltshire and the Les Paul.

“I took the body from the Wilshire, I took the Anico Humbuckers out of the Les Paul, I put the Les Paul neck on it and headstock, changed the tuners around, and fucked a little bit with the electronics – and we made the Phant-o-matic.”

When being approached by Epiphone to make the guitar Frank thought about his family before any guitar legends.

“Basically when given this opportunity the first thing that came to mind was my dad buying me my first guitar. And the reason I got into music was my grandfather and dads played drums and were in bands forever.”

The guitar was designed to help raise money for multiple sclerosis. Epiphone has pledged to match all the money raised by the guitar design.

“About six years ago my family was affected by multiple sclerosis and that was the first thing that came to mind. The only reason I would be doing this is because of my family, so why not give back?”

Visit RollingStone.com for the full article, where Frank also states that new material from My Chemical Romance could be released by the end of this year or by next summer.

My Chemical Romance Open To Side Projects And Planning New Album

Frank Iero

Frank Iero

NME.com posted an article yesterday in which Frank Iero discusses possible side-projects.

“I can see the other guys branching off and doing other things. Gerard has his writing, and he has plans for that, but he wants to direct too. And Ray is such an incredible talent. I’d love to see him get the credit he’s due. I can see us branching off, but always coming back to this.”
– Frank Iero, NME.com

Frank also indicated that My Chemical Romance are on their path to recording a follow up to “Danger Days”.

We’re being very creative right now. There are some really bright and creative things going on. At every soundcheck, we’re coming up with new pieces of music that could turn into something incredible. So we’re hoping to get into the studio soon and really harness that.
